DEACON MINISTRY
Deacons are primarily responsible for the practical and logistical needs of the church. This includes managing church resources and projects, ministering to the needy, ensuring the smooth running of church activities, and providing direct assistance to the pastor. In fulfilling these duties, deacons free up the pastors of the church to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word, as Peter mentioned in Acts 6:4.
While the New Testament does not provide an exhaustive list of deacons’ responsibilities, their role is generally understood to encompass a wide range of service-oriented tasks and occupations. These may include overseeing financial matters, maintaining church property, supervising the work of ministries, organizing charitable activities, and facilitating the administration of ordinances such as baptism and communion when necessary.
Mission:
The mission of the deacon ministry is to assist the pastor of the church in carrying out all pastoral duties, including, but not limited to, serving, equipping, encouraging, edifying, and overseeing the spiritual growth of all members.
Purpose:
The purpose of the deacon’s ministry is to:

Assist the pastor in visiting, nurturing, equipping, and guiding church members and visitors.

Assist the pastor in providing spiritual support and leadership to church members and their community.

Assist the pastor in fulfilling the priestly duties of the church, such as the Lord’s Supper, leading prayer, weddings, funerals, baptisms, child dedications, conversions, etc.

Assist the pastor in ministering in times of crisis and loss, identifying the nature of the crisis and referring individuals to qualified professionals, meeting the needs of families, and providing biblical counseling.

Assist the pastor in building “Christian fellowship” among church members and their community, and in sharing the mission, vision, and passion of the church.

Assist the pastor in strengthening godly principles among church members.

Assist the pastor by becoming his representative in all aspects and activities of the church.
Area of Service:
At Promogos Ministries, deacons are fully authorized to serve in a variety of activities, including:

Leading prayer meetings.

Administering baptisms in place of the pastor.

Assisting with communion services.

Presiding at weddings.
-
Performing administrative duties.
-
Caring for the congregation.

Visitting church members.

Preaching at church services

Opening the church building.

Managing church property.

Collecting and counting offerings
